You Can Bet On Teddy Bridgewater Starting For The Broncos At BetMGM Colorado

Bettors in Colorado with NFL withdrawals have a handful of markets at Colorado sportsbooks they can bet on right now such as the Super Bowl 57 winner, next season’s AFC and NFC champions, next season’s MVP, and the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Fans of the Denver Broncos may find an additional market that BetMGM Colorado is offering of interest.

Which Denver Broncos quarterback will take the first snap in Week One of the Regular Season?

It’s a fair question to ask. Teddy Bridgewater was not great last season, and new Broncos head coach Nathanial Hackett will probably want to bring in his own quarterback. Fans can also bet on who will take the first snap for the Cardinals, Giants, Jets, Saints, and Seahawks, but let’s talk about what the future holds for Bridgewater and the Denver Broncos.

BetMGM Colorado: Will Teddy Bridgewater Take Broncos’ First Snap?

This market has not budged off of its opening odds when it came out this week.

  • Teddy Bridgewater +500
  • Any Other Quarterback -800

Bridgewater had a lot of promise before his horrific leg injury in 2016. Since then, he has shown some promise and played well at times. Last season, he ranked 20th at PFF.com ahead of several starting quarterbacks (i.e., Daniel Jones, Jimmy Garoppolo, Lamar Jackson, Tua Tagovailoa, etc.).

However, along with more injury concerns following his season-ending concussion in Week 15, he just hasn’t done anything to convince the franchise it should bring him back. He led the league with five red-zone turnovers and failed to pull out a win when the team had a chance to win or tie on the final possession last season (0-8).

But the incoming head coach is offensive-minded and is bringing an up-and-coming QB coach with him, Klint Kubiak. They may find it easier to work with a veteran QB with a solid skill set than a younger, less-refined player. However, in recent interviews, Kubiak has said some positive things about Drew Lock. Maybe he and Hackett think they can develop Lock and turn him into a player?

The only other quarterback on the roster is Brett Rypien, who failed to complete either of the two passes he threw last season.

Denver could bring in another quarterback. The team has the No. 9 pick in the first round and could have their pick of the QBs since no one in front of them will probably draft one. Or, they could get one later in the draft. Rumors are starting to circulate about a potential push for Aaron Rodgers should he decide to leave Green Bay. Russell Wilson could be a potential trade target, but it is unlikely he will leave Seattle.

Betting Analysis

There is no reason to think the Broncos are interested in bringing Bridgewater back. The front office has not said it does not plan to, but it hasn’t said that it plans to, either. With the results the Broncos had with Bridgewater behind center last season, you have to think they will want to go in another direction unless they want to lose in 2022.

This year’s draft class is not a strong QB group, but next year will include Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Alabama Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young.

It is hard to think that the Broncos would try to lose, but maybe they just don’t try to win? It’s an unlikely scenario, but it is possible if the rumors about a couple of other teams are true.
