Lottery.com Launches Colorado App

Add Colorado to the list of US states offering online lottery purchases.

Lottery.com launched a Colorado app Thursday, bringing full-service mobile lottery to the Centennial State for the first time. The Lottery.com app functions as an information platform for all US lotteries and facilitates online lottery play in eligible states.

Colorado becomes the latest US state to allow players to purchase lottery entries online. The Lottery.com Colorado app allows for purchases of in-state lottery tickets and entries to national lotteries like Powerball and Mega Millions.

Online lottery apps first hit the US in 2012, beginning with Illinois. Since then, more than 15 states and Washington DC offer lottery ticket purchases through online platforms.

The Jackpocket app, a mobile courier service, already gives Colorado players a way to buy lottery tickets without visiting a local retailer. The new Lottery.com app, however, functions as the first truly mobile lottery service in Colorado.

Lottery.com CEO Brings Online Lottery To His Home State

Denver-born Tony DiMatteo acts as the CEO of Lottery.com and lauded the launch of the app in a Thursday press release.

“Having been born and raised in Denver, I am thrilled to be launching our platform in my home state,” said DiMatteo.

“As more and more people are staying home and safe, we are happy to provide a solution to allow users to play the lottery safely and securely, from the comfort of their own home, while supporting the beautiful parks, trails, and open spaces that Colorado has to offer.”

The Colorado Lottery directs revenue toward conversation of parks, trails, and other outdoor areas in the state. Since its inception in 1983, the lottery has contributed more than $3.5 billion to those causes.

The current Mega Millions jackpot stands at $625 million, with Powerball offering a $550 million grand prize.

Online lottery expands Colorado’s scope of mobile gambling options. Mobile sports betting launched in the state in May, and the Centennial State has since developed into one of the top online sports betting markets in the nation.
