Colorado recently approved a comprehensive list of sporting events that residents will be able to place legal wagers on beginning May 1.
In total, 40 different sporting events and leagues were approved by the commission for betting at its April 16 public meeting. As expected, all of the traditional sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB are all included. However, some interesting sporting events made the list that even the most dedicated sports fans and bettors may have never heard of.
Read on for a complete and official overview of the options that will soon be available to Colorado sports bettors.

Some Oddball Sports Betting Options
After reading through that list, there may be some questions running through everyone’s head. What are some of these sports and will I really be able to bet on them? Well, the answer is both yes and no.
The State of Colorado has approved every sporting league listed above. Any and all retail and online sports books regulated in the state of Colorado will be able to offer bets on any of those sports that they choose. Major sportsbooks like DraftKings and FanDuel will almost certainly have the majority of those sporting leagues available for Colorado bettors. Although they probably won’t have them all.
Just because the league has been approved for betting, doesn’t exactly mean that all of these leagues will be available for betting. Sports such as Floorball, Pesapallo or even the Gaelic Games are unlikely to be offered by most sportsbooks in Colorado. While these sporting events are uncommonly bet on in the United States, knowing that they are legal in the state could possibly open a niche market in Colorado if enough interest is shown.
Big Win For eSports Community
With the current sports hiatus shutting down virtually all live sporting events across the country, the State of Colorado scored a big win by approving eSports betting. Now when sports betting launches in Colorado on May 1, bettors will actually have events to place wagers on.
eSports betting has never been fully approved across the country, even in the state of Nevada. In the past, only certain eSports events have been approved for betting in Nevada and New Jersey. Now, Nevada has approved entire eSports betting leagues and it looks like Colorado is ready to follow in those footsteps. The eSports leagues that have been approved for betting include Call of Duty, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA2, E-Nascar, League of Legends, NBA2K, Overwatch and Rainbow Six.
