The NHL playoffs were completed thanks in large part to a bubble similar to the NBA. The season completed with a Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup Victory. According to several sportsbooks, Colorado fans have plenty to look forward to. The Colorado Avalanche are the favorites to win the Stanley Cup thanks to an impressive playoff run and some new faces on their roster.
The Colorado Avalanche are favorites to win the Stanley Cup next year according to DraftKings Sportsbook. In fact, most of the other legal sportsbooks are in agreement on this fact. FanDuel Sportsbook, DraftKings, and BetRivers sportsbooks all have the Avalanche at +750 to win the title. BetMGM and FoxBet have Avalanche as favorites coming in at +800.
The outlier here would be William Hill who is going in its own direction for Stanley Cup favorites. William Hill’s favorite to win the cup this year is the Las Vegas Golden Knights at +750. William Hill has the Colorado Avalanche at +800 to win the Stanley Cup.
An Avalanche Of Talent (New And Old)
The list of injuries that the Avalanche dealt with was outright ridiculous. The following players missed significant time during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. None of these players were available at points during the last series against the Dallas Stars.
- Colin Wilson- Center
- Dennis Gilbert- Defense
- Pavel Francouz- Goalie
- Philipp Grubauer- Goalie
- Gabriel Landeskog- Left Wing
- Joonas Donskoi- Right Wing
- Conor Timmins- Defense
- Matt Calvert- Left Wing
- Erik Johnson- Defense
Down to a third-string goalie, the Avalanche were still able to compete with the Stars. Extremely impressive to have that kind of depth and coaching to make it that close with the Western Conference champions.
Furthermore, superstar Devon Toews was acquired by the Avalanche last week thanks to a trade with the New York Islanders. This comes after the Avalanche traded defenseman Nikita Zadorov in exchange for forward Brandon Saad. The trade was criticized initially because their defense is the biggest strength on the roster. Well, it was clear that the front office had a plan. The addition of Devon Toews on top of Brandon Saad is one of the biggest reasons that they are favorites on most sportsbooks.
The Avalanche added one of the best defensemen in the NHL. The best defense in hockey just got better and they can still bring in more talent.
Tentatively, the season is slated to begin on Dec. 1.
