Mardi Gras Casino History

The Mardi Gras Casino at Black Hawk was opened in 2000 – formerly known as the Golden Mardi Gras Casino, under the Golden Casino Group. 

It was purchased along with the Golden Gates and Golden Gulch casinos by Affinity Gaming in 2012, then most recently acquired by Twin River Worldwide Holdings Inc. in 2019 for $51 million. 

Combined, the three properties offer more than 650 slot and video poker machines, in addition to 33 live-action tables. For table poker, one can easily skip across to The Golden Gates Casino’s state-of-the-art poker room, which is accessible via skywalk.

The Mardi Gras Casino has a fairy tale-like exterior design, with a festive and vibrant theme on the inside. Although there is no hotel within the Mardi Gras, there are plenty of hotel and lodging options nearby.

A range of café and bars options are available within the property. They include:

  • Bourbon St. Café, on third floor – Diverse menu with famous “Double-Up” burger
  • Creekside Deli, first floor – Grab-and-go sandwiches, wraps, salad, pizza and dessert
