The Colorado Rockies are set to open their 2022 regular season on April 8 against their divisional foe the Los Angeles Dodgers. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:10 pm MT at Coors Field in Denver.
The opening series against the Dodgers will be an excellent test for the Rockies as the Dodgers are widely considered to be the top contender for the World Series in 2022. As of spring training, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Dodgers at +470 to win it all.
The Rockies, on the other hand, haven’t won a World Series in their franchise history and are looking to return to the playoffs for the first time since they earned a Wild Card spot in 2018.
This year, the Rockies are looking to change their losing ways, but how far can they go? Check out our comprehensive sports betting guide to the best bets for the Rockies for the 2022 MLB season.
Can The Rockies Make The Playoffs?
Last year, the Rockies finished with a record of 74-87, which was good enough for fourth place in their division behind the Giants, Dodgers, and Padres but ahead of the Diamondbacks.
This season will likely be a challenge as the Dodgers are favorites to win the World Series, and both the Giants and Padres are expected to contend for postseason spots.
Season Win Total
Unfortunately, coming into the season the expectations aren’t too high for the Rockies. Sportsbooks such as FanDuel Colorado and DraftKings Colorado have the Rockies over/under win total at 68.5.
However, the Rockies did add a big bat to their lineup that could help eclipse the current oddsmakers’ prediction. The addition of former Chicago Cub Kris Bryant should provide a consistent offensive threat that may help the Rockies win a few more ball games. Bryant is a former NL MVP (2016) who signed a seven-year contract with the Rockies this offseason.
NL West Division Odds
As mentioned previously the NL West division is loaded with top-tier ball clubs. Thus, oddsmakers have the Rockies as the fourth favorite in the division. Their odds to win the division are as high as +12,000 at sportsbooks such as DraftKings.
Prediction: The Rockies will eclipse experts’ predictions and win more than 68 games but will struggle to move past fourth place in the NL West as the teams ahead of them are arguably in a class of their own.

The Biggest Prizes
The Rockies have shown some signs of fight in them in years past, but they are still way out from being true World Series contenders. But, what are their chances exactly?
NL Championship Odds
Barstool sportsbook Colorado has the Rockies at +6000 to win the National League Championship. The only other teams the Rockies are ahead of are the Diamondbacks and Pirates.
Sportsbooks such as DraftKings have the odds even longer at +11,000.
Prediction: Take a hint from the oddsmakers on this one. The Rockies are nowhere close to contending for the NL pennant.
World Series Odds
- Barstool +15,000
- BetMGM Colorado +20,000
- FanDuel +20,000
- DraftKings +25,000
We’re unsure what’s driving the +15,000 odds at Barstool, but if sportsbooks such as BetMGM are still indicating the same thing — the Rockies are longshots to win the World Series. This is a future bet that you may want to stay away from.
Kris Bryant MVP Odds
Despite being on a team that isn’t expected to succeed much, Bryant has been given moderate preseason MVP odds by many sportsbooks. For instance, at FanDuel, Bryant is +5000 to win the 2022 NL MVP Award. That is in the same neighborhood as the odds for Paul Goldschmidt (St. Louis Cardinals) and Max Muncy (Los Angeles Dodgers).
It is somewhat of a surprise that sportsbooks aren’t including Kris Bryan in their futures market for RBI leader. One could argue that Bryant stands a good chance to hit over 100 RBI this year due to playing half of his games at Coors Field, which is a hitter’s park. He hasn’t surpassed 100 RBI since 2016 when he won MVP.
Prediction: Bryant won’t win NL MVP but he may shock some folks in terms of how he performs offensively. Keep an eye out on updated figure bets for Bryan to be the 2022 RBI leader.
Other Rockies Futures Bets
Will the Rockies make the playoffs?
Given the tough competition the Rockies will face in the NL West it’s doubtful that they will win the division to clinch an automatic playoff spot. However, the MLB did expand its playoff bracket by one spot, so now there are six playoff spots up for grabs in each league.
With the added spot in the mix, and the addition of Bryant, the Rockies are in a position to shock a few folks.
Yes, the Rockies Make the Playoffs Odds
- FanDuel +1300
- DraftKings +1500
No, the Rockies Will Not Make the Playoffs Odds
- FanDuel -4500
- DraftKings -5000
Prediction: The Rockies will stay in the hunt for a Wild Card berth but ultimately fall short. Taking the over on the Rockies’ season win total has more value versus the playoff future bet as there are too many good teams in the National League this year.
